about us

The Mustard Tigers hail from the Finger Lakes Region of New York, calling the town of Naples their home. Brian Elam founded the group in 2021 as a bluegrass trio; the following year, the group adopted electric instruments and leaned hard into a honky tonk sound. Led by Brian's words and Telecaster guitar, the Mustard Tigers have been torching stages ever since. The Mustard Tigers serve up a variety of moods within each night, from hot picking to sentimental crooning, each song telling a story. Influenced by mid-century honky-tonk, Bakersfield, and outlaw country, as well as R&B, funk, and swing, the Mustard Tigers offer their own groove in country music.

In addition to their frontman, vocalist and guitarist Brian Elam, the current lineup consists of pedal steel guitarist Jake Penna, bassist Kyle Ingalls, and drummer Dylan Bloom.

In September 2025, the group released their first album—recorded with occasional live guest Aaron Lipp at Temple Cabin Studios—which includes work from former members Matthew Herrmann and Sadie Frederick. The group enters 2026 writing new material with plans to release a follow up album and to continue widening their footprint... full steam ahead!
